City of Carencro Named Louisiana Development Ready Community

City of Carencro Named Louisiana Development
Ready Community

CARENCRO, La. – Louisiana Economic Development has recognized the City of Carencro as a Louisiana Development Ready Community, the 57th parish or municipality to receive state certification of local investment readiness since the program began in 2008.

The Louisiana Development Ready Communities program helps participants become more competitive for new investment and jobs by guiding selected communities through the process of creating and implementing a strategic economic development plan. By following its plan for multiple years, participants leverage local assets and address unique challenges to empower business growth in their communities.

“Congratulations to the City of Carencro and all of the economic development partners who have worked together to achieve this distinction,” LED Secretary Don Pierson said. “The progress that will result from this program will usher in vast opportunities for both businesses and residents, therefore strengthening the local economy and quality of life.”

To secure the LDRC designation, the City of Carencro and Lafayette Economic Development Authority worked together to survey the community and prepare a community assessment. They held multiple committee meetings on goals and strategies to create a plan that will strengthen economic development opportunities.

The city becomes the fourth community in Lafayette Parish to earn the LDRC distinction. Carencro joins the City of Broussard, the City-Parish of Lafayette and City of Scott which have all received the certification within the last two years.

“The administration of the City of Carencro is thrilled to have been designated a Development Ready Community,” Carencro Mayor Charlotte Clavier said. “This provides opportunities for both our citizens and our businesses to provide jobs, while investing in the infrastructure to continue the rapid growth Carencro is experiencing. Thank you to LED and LEDA for helping us on this journey. We are excited about the future of Carencro.”

“Congratulations to Mayor Clavier, the Carencro City Council and the city staff on their commitment to earning the LDRC designation,” LEDA President and CEO Mandi Mitchell said. “Through this comprehensive process, the City of Carencro has drafted a blueprint for future development, thoughtful growth, and job creation. LEDA proudly supports the City of Carencro and commits to remaining a close partner for the city in the implementation of this thoughtful, citizen-led and community-focused vision.”
