Pelican Park Expansion Receives $12,000 Grant for New Restroom Facilities
CARENCRO, La. | The City of Carencro is proud to announce it has been awarded a $12,000 grant from the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission’s Enterprise Fund to support the expansion of restroom facilities at Pelican Park.
The funding will help address a long-standing need for additional restrooms in the park’s northern area, improving the experience for the thousands of athletes, families, and visitors who use Pelican Park throughout the year.
The project will include the construction of new restroom facilities along with approximately 1,000 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer line and new manholes extending from the existing collection system along Tournament Drive into the northern section of the park.
For years, Pelican Park has served as one of Acadiana’s premier destinations for youth sports and community recreation. As participation has continued to grow, so has the need for infrastructure that better supports tournaments, local leagues, and community events.
Mayor Charlotte Clavier expressed her appreciation for the continued partnership with the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission.
“We are honored to have received our second grant from the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission,” said Mayor Clavier. “Their assistance with many projects throughout the Acadiana area is so very well appreciated and needed.”
The project represents more than a facility upgrade. It is another investment in one of Carencro’s most valuable community assets. Pelican Park welcomes visitors from across Louisiana and beyond, generating activity for local restaurants, hotels, and businesses while providing a place where families gather and memories are made.
By improving the park’s infrastructure, the City continues to strengthen its position as a regional destination for youth sports and recreation while ensuring visitors enjoy a better experience every time they come to Carencro.
