City of Carencro Officials Hold Public Briefing Regarding Tropical Storm Francine
In preparation for potential landfall of Tropical Storm Francine in the Carencro Area, Mayor Charlotte Clavier, Chief of Police David Anderson and Fire Chief David Mouton held a Press Conference to pass on important information to the public. Emergency procedures discussed during the press conference are as follows:
• CITIZENS SHOULD PREPARE FOR 3-4 DAYS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY AND 4 PLUS INCHES OF RAIN. IF ANY CITIZEN IS NOT PREPARED FOR EITHER OF THESE POTENTIAL SITUATIONS, THEN THEY SHOULD EVACUATE AS SOON AS EVA_CUATION NOTICES ARE ANNOUNCED!
• SAND BAGS CAN BE PICKED UP NOW AT THE CARENCRO COMMUNITY CENTER 5115 N UNIVERSITY AVENUE. THERE IS A BLUE BOX BEHIND THE COMMUNITY CENTER WITH BAGS AND TIESJN IT.
The Mayor also stressed the importance of having an game plan in place for this and other emergency events. All lists for information and supplies you’ll need to collect for prior, during and after an emergency can be obtained through The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) Get A Game Plan offering people in Louisiana a new resource for developing and finalizing their emergency plans. The Get A Game Plan mobile app is designed to prepare Louisiana residents for emergency events with preparedness tools, guides and push notifications. The Get A Game Plan App features include:
• Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Guide • Ability to customize a supply list to suit your family size. • Guide for making an emergency plan -business, cybersecurity, family, financial preparedness, disability, kids, mitigation, pets and animals. • Up-to-date content managed by GOHSEP • Links to resources, social media and videos • Link to the Get a Game Plan Podcast • Push notifications for emergency events and updates
